Free photo editing apps, you just have to search in the app store and you can find so much different types. After installation you will discover that you have to pay for certain filters or possibilities. It is therefore useful for all selfie lovers to have a good photo editor on your phone. The one that does come with surprise such as pay to use or tolerate our advertisement. Or the one that just don’t get the job done well.
You are at an event. It is super lit. You pick up your phone in between to make nice pictures. You then notice afterwards that some photos do not look that amazing. Scrolling through the picture only to find that your friends have red eyes. Not a flattering image to share right? You then ask yourself whether you can make the photos more beautiful in some way and make those scary red eyes disappear. At times like this it is useful to have an app with which you can fine-tune your pictures. In this blog post I share 6 best free photo editing apps for IOS and Android from 2018.
1 – Adobe Photoshop Express
I use Adobe Photoshop on my desktop for complex corrections on a photo. It is and remains the best photo editing application on a desktop/laptop running Windows or macOS my opinion. Now you also have a version for mobile called “Adobe Photoshop Express”. For example, photos with red eyes are a thing of the past by using this app. Furthermore, you have a lot of filters and you can also edit a photo manually. Simple and very easy to use.
2 – Google Snapseed
Developed by Google, Snapseed is a very good alternative if you find Instagram filters too limited. There are several tools included. Here you can think of leveling the colors of your pictures. It works very fast and is very easy to use. By swiping you can quickly scroll/toggle through various options with tools. Other then all the standard options, I find the option “Portrait” one of the most useful tools. Suppose your face looks slightly darker than the other half of your body, you can solve it quickly and very well. You can also adjust the brightness of your eyes. Give it a try. After all, it is free.
3 – Pixlr – Photo Collage, Effect
Despite that it comes with in-app advertisement, this is a great photo editing app. Aside of editing your pictures, you also have the option to quickly create collages. This app also have the option to remove red eyes. In addition, you have an option called “heal”. With this you can, for example, manually reduce your eye bags or pimples. Sounds great right? well it is. You also have a pixel brush which, you guessed it, pixels the part of the image you want. With the autofix you can optimize the picture at a split second, The are also plenty of pre-made filters.
4 – Toolwiz Photos – Pro editor
Face tune, drawing, urban effect and photo collage. This app has a lot of possibilities. You even have a face rater. With that, the app will judge your face. Fun and nice but what makes this app different is the range of tools you have at your disposal. A real treat for people who want to make a work of art in the palm of their hands. With this app you can also edit your photo professionally. It has more than 200+ tools. Do i need to say more? Download it for free. P.s. this app also has an in-app advertisement.
5 – YouCam Perfect – Selfie Photo Editor
Aside from the facts that you see when taking selfie, sometimes you wish your phone could do a make-over. Fortunately, that is possible nowadays. With this app you give yourself a virtual makeover. It automatically detects your face. After this you can start with your make-over. You can practically fine-tune everything on your face. Unless you put everything at maximum level, it is indistinguishable from real. If you make a selfie together with your friends, you also have the option of making everyone one by one (multi-face editing). In my opinion this is comparable with Photoshop but then for your face.
6 – Meitu – Beauty Cam, Photo, Tech magic, ArtBot
Bizarre selfie masks, face tight pulling or a total makeover. Meitu has several options. This way you can also turn your face into an anime character. Another option that you have here is that you can make certain things disappear on your photo. For instance. You took a picture via Snapchat. What if there was an option to remove those hearts? Well you are lucky. You can remove those hearts with this app. You have to be careful though. Removal option is not flawless.
A minus point of this app is that it can be at the expense of your privacy. This app wants to access a lot of data after installation. If such an app requests access to storage, camera and internet, then that makes sense. An app can (in most cases) not just access various options in your phone. But Meitu also wants access to see your location (GPS) and manage your phone calls. Fortunately, you can refuse the permissions in Android. as I do not have an Iphone I don’t know if it is the same on Ios. If you refuse access, you can still happily use the app. I do not know if this is sufficient though. Despite this, it is a nice photo editing app to try out (at your own risk of exposing your privacy).
Other photo editing apps that you can also try
Editing photo through Instagram is too limited
Instagram has nice filters. As you may know, with Instagram you can also edit your pictures manually. Compared to the apps I mentioned above, editing on Instagram is, in my opinion, a bit too limited. Decorating your most beautiful photos, using a photo editing app, is not only fun but also very fast and convenient. Maybe someday it will overcome all the editing options that Photoshop on Windows/macOS has to over. Who knows? Have fun with editing your photos!
